Administration
Everyone in the congregation has a ministry—not just the ordained minister. I wish to function with lay leadership in helping people recognize and realize their gifts, and by helping people put those gifts to work in service to the congregation and in the community outside the congregation. I am highly extroverted, and as such, collaborative. I expect to collaborate with lay leadership to articulate the vision and mission of the church, recognizing your unique and needed ministry in congregational life, and making sure that there are opportunities for meaningful lay leadership in all facets of our shared ministry.
As a supervisor, I believe that every person on the church staff has a specialized ministry, and that we will all work in service to the broader mission and vision of the church as articulated by its laity. It is my job to ensure that the mission and vision of the church is infused in all of the work that we do, and that we work together as a well-oiled, covenanted machine in service to that vision. I will empower my staff to support the ministry of the church in the best way they know how according to their expertise. I am blessed to know a lot about the ministry of religious education, church/choral music and our hymnody. For those reasons, I believe I will be a particularly good and collaborative supervisor to the Sunday school director and music director. I look forward to working with administrative professionals to help us communicate and collaborate well. I hope to learn a lot from professionals who support the financial and physical structures of the church. In short, I am a team player who believes the work of ministry is done in concert with others according to the gifts of each, in service to the church and to God. I will do everything I can to ensure that the staff knows their specialized roles in that mission and vision, and feel supported and nurtured to develop and change as they grow.
